Ba Be National Park lies 250 kms north of Ha Noi and is the capital of Ba Be District in Bac Kan Province.  The10,048ha park is a great example of biodiversity being home to 1268 species of flora and fauna, and it includes a series of caves and a gigantic fresh water lake. It lies at an altitude of 145-1080m above sea level and with temperatures ranging from -7C to 32C, Ba Be’s climate is mostly moderate throughout the year.

Ba Be National Park was established in 1992 by the Vietnamese Government to preserve forest ecosystems in the northeast.  Prior to that the first permanent French civilian residents arrived in 1940 and by 1940 there were a number of boats on the lake and a fortress built in the forest area.
Nowadays Ba Be National Park is becoming a favoured destination for discerning travellers seeking peace and quiet, cultural enrichment or a spot of activity and adventure.
