Tam Grotto Bich Dong Cave is recognized as an ancient spot tha belongs to Ninh Hai Commune, Hoa Lu, Ninh Binh, it is approximately 100km south. The grotto has retained its natural look of caves and grottos, and its historical relics namely Tien Cave, Bich Cave Pagoda, Linh Coc Pagoda, and Thai Vi Temple. The grotto is situated in Mount Ngu Nhac Son which is a part of Dam Khe Village, Ninh Hai Commune, Hoa Lu, Ninh Binh.
The area has a tropical climate with two seasons. The rain and cold weather lasts from May to October, and the hot and dry weather begins in November then ends in April. The yearly average temperature is 23.5⁰C. Its location on the base of the Red River Delta Triangle gives it its unique topography of half-plain and half-mountain landscape. It also has an 18km coastline.
Bich Cave was recognized as ‘The Nam Thien II’ (the second most attractive cave in the country). In 1773, Nguyen Nghiem, the father of renowned poet Nguyen Du, went to the cave. Upon seeing the wondrous views of the mountains, rice fields, and rivers, Mr. Nguyen Nghiem aptly gave it the beautiful name Bich Cave.
Once inside the cave, tourists can visit a temple while a small boat takes tourists around the enchanting cave. Bich Cave is one of the most recognized tourist destinations in Ninh Binh, situated in Mount Ngu Nhac Son, which is found in Dam Khe Village, Ninh Hai Commune, Hoa Lu. Bich Dong translates to ‘Pearl Grotto’ or ‘Green Grotto’. The magnificent stalactites, wondrous colors, and shape-shifting rock formations make the cave experience magical for visitors.
